Final Post

First off, I apologize that you are receiving this on Monday (and not Sunday night). This past weekend my Cross Country team had our Half-Marathon we host and because my mind ended up being absorbed by that, I completely forgot about posting.

That being said, this course offered me the opportunity to try and explore many different types of technology that can be utilized when I begin teaching. The fact that I will now have my online portfolio can also help in applying for a job, by including it in my resources that I submit.

I would like to thank Dr. Romano for offering the weekly online-classes as they were a great help with some of the new technologies I were not familiar with. I hope to be able to use some of my new knowledge in other classes I take at AU as well in my future teaching career.

Some Tech Thoughts...

So...some updates on me. Things have started to unwind for me as my coaching has ended. My boys CC team ended their season at Districts. Although we didn't advance anyone on, we had some great performances.

This class has been interesting. For as long as I've used PowerPoint, oddly enough I've never used hyperlinks before. I downloaded a version of the Who Wants to be a Millionaire several years ago to use in my youth group. You're able to edit the questions and answers. I'm looking forward to the video-making assignment. I haven't read the assignment, but video is always something I can learn more about.

1st Blog

Well, I've decided not to use my business blog for this assignment. Didn't want customers going to the site and wondering why they were reading about my coursework at AU.

So far, this class has been a struggle for me. not because of the type of coursework, but because the lack of accountability by not attending class. Although I feel I have good self-discipline, making sure I commit the time needed to this course is something I have really had to work towards. I have gone several days and realized...I didn't login. Although I have had classes before that meet online, none that meet 'only' online.

This is a topic I do enjoy. I have enjoyed technology since middle school (when home computers first started hitting the market). I realized more so this semester than last year that I am a non-traditional student. I have a class with a college freshmen that I coached when he was in 7th/8th grade and I am now older than one of my professors! Wow...I really need to finish school :-).
